Home Fitness Equipment Under £100 Pounds

Best Fitness Equipment Under £100

Get Fit at Home with Great Value Home Fitness Machines for Under £100

If you know what (and where!) to look out for, you can get some excellent home fitness equipment under £100. Exactly what represents the best value does depend on your goals and the type of exercise you are aiming for. This page gives you a lot of ideas for the best home fitness equipment under £100 – along with links to my detailed buyers guides and comparisons for each equipment type.

Update: Inflation bites… noticed that most of the budget items listed below are now in the £100 to £150 range. I’ll be back with updates soon!

Of course, there are infinite possibilities when it comes to the combinations of value fitness equipment you could buy. To keep things as simple as possible, I have split things up into the following categories:

#1 Workout Machines Under £100: This includes exercise bikes, steppers and some budget elliptical trainers. I have listed the pros and cons of each, and recommended how to get some models which would be considered ‘mid-range’ under the £100 budget.

#2 Strength Training Equipment Under £100: Free weights, kettlebells and pull-up bars can all be bought under budget. With some smart shopping you can also get a bench or a basic multi-gym. Having these delivered to you is a big plus – nobody wants to bring weights home from the shops!

#3 Core and Abs under £100: Most abs equipment will come under budget, the key here is to figure which will get the best results for you. I compare the WonderCore, Sit-up Benches, Rollers and belts.

#4 Misc Fitness Equipment under £100: Not everything fits into these neat categories, this section includes a couple of other pieces of value equipment that you might not otherwise have considered.

Excuses Don't Burn Calories

Home Workout Machines Under £100

While the budget end of the home fitness machines market does include a few gems, you need to set your expectations at the right level. At this price point your equipment will be functional, though it will not look like anything you might find in a professional gym!

I have ruled out treadmills at this price range. You can get some ‘manual’ models for less than a hundred pounds, though these are not popular. With no motor you literally need to start the belt moving with your feet. If you are set on a treadmill, there are some value motorised options at around £150. See my treadmill reviews section for more.

Budget Exercise Bikes

JLL JF100 Under £100?Bikes are simple to produce, and you can get decent quality models for less than £100. These will include a LCD display to track your progress and calories, and a sturdy frame. If you check out the listings at amazon.co.uk, you will find many mid-range home exercise bikes with big discounts. This can easily bring an exercise bike which was previously out of budget within your reach.

I recommend  the JLL JF100 which has proven to be hugely popular since the 2017 model was released. This is a solid and quiet starter bike which has some of the extras you’d normally associate with mid-range models. This includes smooth resistance, which benefits from a 2-way 4kg flywheel. There is a console with the usual speed, distance, time and calories type display. You will also get a pulse sensor built into the handlebars. This can help you regulate your workout by listening to your body’s feedback.

This is a decent machine for a low price – and with the years of experience JLL have with bikes, the chances of you needing the 12 month warranty which comes as standard is low. Check out the product page over at amazon.co.uk now for the gallery and feedback from previous buyers.

Steppers (Great Value!)

Confidence Fitness StepperSteppers are amazing machines in small packages… They can be stored away easily between use, and kick a real punch in terms of the number of calories burned per hour. Make sure you do not overdo it on your first few workouts, your quads and butt will feel it!

Most steppers are in the £25 to £50 range. The one I recommend if you are just starting out with home exercise is the Confidence Fitness Twist Stepper. This includes bands for an upper body workout (even more calories burned) and has a solid base plus smooth motion. At under £40 it will not break the bank either. Check this amazon product page (unavailable!) and to see the feedback from previous owners and picture gallery.

Elliptical Trainers

Price-wise, a decent elliptical cross trainer will be right on the borderline. If you go too far under £100, the risk is that you’ll get something flimsy (or even worse squeaky!). On the plus side, cross trainers are low impact and give you a great fat-burning / weight-loss workout.

One model to consider is the current best seller in this category – the Pro XS Sports 2-in-1 Elliptical / Bike combo. XS Sports are known for their sturdy equipment and this cross trainer / bike has great feedback for the price point. Note that delivery is extra for this item, though it stays under our £100 target even with this thanks to the discount (as usual, I need to add at the time of writing, as this can change!). You’ll get an LCD display, pulse sensors and pedals which can take feel all the way up to size 12! Check out this dedicated product page at amazon.co.uk, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised how good the spec is for the money.

Strength Training Equipment Under £100

You’ll be stretched to get a decent barbell set, dumbbells + a bench for under £100 – though with some selective shopping you can still make great start to your home gym setup.

Ideally you’ll be able to get weights that you can reuse for several exercises to keep the expenses down. Instead of separate (hex design for example) dumbbells, use Olympic free weights for both these and your bar. You can get a bar for just £15 (see this popular example from York Fitness), a basic 30kg weight set for £40 – which leaves £55 for a weight bench and rack combination. Sure, this is not the perfect home gym setup, though for the price it is a solid start. What I like about this approach is that you can switch out the individual parts as your budget – and your strength – improves.

You will also find multi-gyms under £100. These can save you a lot compared to buying the individual parts, here are some examples.

DTX Adjustable Weight Training BenchDKN Adjustable Weight Bench: This is just on the dividing line between a weight bench, and a home multi-gym. It has a leg press, preacher curl feature (pec dec that works while you recline) and a barbell rack. What I like about this one is that you get to reuse the same weights for each format – saving some money. This is a great value bench, though keep in mind that you will need to buy those weights separately. Check the gallery on the dedicated amazon.co.uk product page here.

Hardcastle Pull-Down Multi-Gym:  This is an odd looking multi-gym, though it does manage to pack in a lot of different workouts for the sub-£100 price tag. The main focus is the pull-down bar, which is counter-weighted using a pulley system which allows the weights to be used for several more exercises. Check out the amazon.co.uk product page for more.

You will see a lot more options (some not too far over the £100 budget set for this page) on my main home gym comparisons and reviews page.

Home Fitness Equipment for Abs and Core for Under £100

In this area, you have a lot of good choices which are good value. I’ll add my usual disclaimer than these machines alone are not going to be enough to get rid of that ‘spare tyre’, you’ll need to look at your diet and fat-burning exercises alongside!

wondercore 2 abs workout reviewTop Pick – The Thane WonderCore 2: I’m one of a growing army of fans for Thane products. The WonderCore 2 could have been a simple upgrade of the original WonderCore – only the producer, Thane, had other ideas. They created a core / abs machine which is flexible as well as effective, and then added some extras for upper body workouts. This is at the upper end of the price range when it comes to abs equipment – though I think this one is worth every penny.

Check out the Thane WonderCore page at amazon.co.uk to see all  the functions.

Serious Value – The 66Fit Ab Trimmer / Roller: Don’t be fooled by this simple looking piece of fitness equipment… it packs a serious punch. Rollers use your own body weight to tone your abs and core. You will be trying to stop the roller running away too fast, and then bringing it back. For less than £15 (at the time of writing), this small item can get big results. Check out my review of the 66Fit Ab Roller, or alternatively, see the amazon.co.uk product page here.

Sit Up Bench Pick – Confidence Fitness: This bench is my pick for 3 reasons. First it is adjustable, many benches offer just one position, while this one is flexible, particularly on the angle of incline. Second, the Confidence Fitness brand is respected around the world for their sturdy (and great value) equipment. Finally, the price – this is within the reach of almost everyone serious about their abs and core! Check out the dedicated product page here.

There are plenty more options at the value end of the range for abs and core equipment – check out my main Abs and Core Equipment Reviews page for the full list.

Cheap Fitness Equipment Misc

Misc fitness Equipment Under £100

This last section is a ‘bucket’ category… after all, there are plenty of things which you can purchase which will give your fitness a boost without breaking the bank.

Fitness Trackers: One type of item I do recommend is a tracker. This could be a smartwatch with all the bells and whistles – or you could just get a simple pedometer type tracker. Simple items come in at around £25 and for many people are worth every penny. Once you start tracking, you can start to set yourself goals. Even more important, after tracking for a while, you become aware of those times you are not exercising. It’s a psychological shortcut to giving yourself that all-important routine.

You can read more in my Fitness Gadgets and Apps section – or check out this guide to the best pedometers.

Abs Belts: Abs belts are not a ‘magic pill’ to trimmed abs, though they do tighten up those muscles and are great in conjunction with fat burning exercise and healthy eating. Thousands of people have reported positive results, and if you set your expectations correctly – these items pack a big punch for a decent price.

The biggest name in this category is Slendertone – their unisex Abs3 system – this is an advanced and big selling model. It has some excellent feedback from previous buyers (see the comments on the product page for more here) For more information on this area, see my detailed article on whether abs toning belts work.

I could go on here, with sit-down exercise bikes (the under desk units), skipping ropes, fitness balls and accessories like pull-up bars all coming into this budget range. This page is already very long, so those can be saved for another day.

Summing Up – The Best Home Fitness Equipment Under £100

A lot to think about on this page already, so I’ll keep this wrap-up short.

You really do not need to break the bank these days to get started with home fitness. It really comes down to your preferences – and a realistic assessment of what type of machine you will stick with over the medium term. What I like best here is that you can try out a couple of items to find which suits you the best.

I’ll leave you with a repeat of the table from the top of the page. After checking through the detail of each category, this should all make sense.
