Detailed Review of the Xterra Fitness ERG600 Rowing Machine

The Xterra Fitness ERG600 Water Rowing Machine is one of the most distinctive rowers on the market due to the bold blue water tank. This gives the real feel and sound of rowing on the water and is the closest you can come to the real thing in your own home.

As you row the impellers move through the water in the tank creating the resistance in the same way it would happen on a river or a lake. The resistance settings for the rower are changed by simply adding or removing water from the tank. Markers on the side of the blue tank tell you exactly how much water you need for each of the six levels.

Dimensions and Warranties

When fully assembled the rower comes in at a length of 205cm, width of 56cm and a height of 107cm. One of the handiest aspects of the ERG600 rower is that you can simply stand it up. This puts the main rail vertical instead of horizontal. The total floor space needed for storing the rowing machine away is now 56cm by 107cm, a huge saving on spare room real estate.

The maximum user weight for the rowing machine is 130 kgs, which is the equivalent of around 20.5 stone. There is a 2-year parts and labour guarantee that come with the ERG600 Rowing Machine that will give you added peace of mind.

Xterra Water Rower ERG600: Electronic Console and Data

There is a large 5.5-inch LCD console on the front of the machine. This is controlled by six buttons at the bottom of the display. They include reset, recovery, and start / stop options. The console is powered by two supplied AA batteries. On the screen there are indicators to the left and right telling you the following:

  • The time spent rowing.
  • The strokes per minute as you row.
  • The total distance you have covered.
  • The total number of strokes.
  • The number of calories you have burned.
  • Your pulse rate as you row.

In the middle of these indicators is a graphical display relating to your rowing. There are five different programmable modes as you row.

This model is not app compatible. If you prefer iFit or another interactive training app, I recommend the NordicTrack RW600 or the Carbon R10 from ProForm.

Comfort and Notable Extras for the ERG600 Rower

This machine offers high quality performance due to the Xterra multi-bladed impeller which moves through the water in the tank. The rower has a smooth dual aluminium rail system and industrial strength handle straps.

The rower has a large, contoured seat that is raised in height, which maximises both performance and comfort. The ergonomic rowing handle is easy to flex and adjust for added comfort and the flex pedals ensure that there is no slippage in your feet when you are rowing.
