Viavito Sina Elliptical Cross Trainer Review

Viavito Sina Cross Trainer

Summary: The Viavito Sina elliptical is a sturdy mid-budget cross-trainer. It has heart rate monitor compatibility, and the computer has user profiles for up to 4 users. This is a bigger, heavier elliptical cross trainer than most those at the budget end of the spectrum (without being commercial sized). You’ll find large, comfortable footplates a full 15-inch stride length and max user weight of a generous 18.9 stone. The resistance is controlled by a 9kg flywheel.

Detailed Review of the Viavito Sina Elliptical Cross Trainer

You’ll get a bigger unit than most home cross-trainers. This machine is 132cm x 55cm x 170cms. It weighs in at a solid 47kgs.  This is bigger and more solid than most home ellipticals, though not the same size as those you’ll find in commercial gyms (which cost from 3x to 5x more).

There is only one design. The main machine is black, with red trim and the Viavito logo in white. With fixed handlebars as well as the moving ones, bigger footplates (anti-grip) than usual and a 19.8lb (9kg) flywheel. The stride length of 15 inches is plenty enough for even the biggest users. Comments came from people over 6 feet tall that were happy with the Sina.

Computer Controls

Viavito elliptical computer controlThe computer is one of the things that make this mid-price elliptical trainer stand out. This is an LCD display, which is backlit and has different coloured areas. It measures 5.4 inches by 2.6 inches.

Standard feedback includes time, speed, RPM, distance, calories, pulse and WATT. Your pulse comes from hand sensors which are built in. This model is compatible with heart-rate monitors (for example chest straps from the likes of POLAR). One is not supplied, so you’ll need to use your own.

Of the 20 programs advertised, 12 are pre-set. Things like intervals, cardio and fat burning. You can use this machine on manual mode, set your own interval type program or even use it in recovery mode.

A nice minor touch is to be able to switch between metric and imperial measurements. You can see a close up (zoomable) of this complex-looking console on this page over at amazon.co.uk

Feedback: What Previous Buyers Said About the Viavito Sina Cross Trainers?

Overall positive feedback for this model. The sturdy build came in for praise. Several questions came up about the size. Bigger users seemed to be fine (up to the 18.9 stone weight limit), though one potential buyer with a lower ceiling was warned off – as you’ll be an extra foot off the ground when you stand on this elliptical.

The only major negative came from someone unable to use the computer – pretty standard revenge / frustration one-star ranting… it is unclear whether this was an error with their machine, or whether they were luddites with fat fingers. Lets give them the benefit of the doubt, just this once!

With almost everyone (at the time of writing) giving this home elliptical either 4 or 5 stars, it does appear to have lived up to the advertising claims. Feedback is coming in all the time, so make sure you check the latest before you commit.

Wrapping Up: How Does the Viavito Sina Elliptical Compare?

You’ll get a decent spec and a bigger machine for your money compared to many home ellipticals in this ‘mid’ price range. A bigger frame and heavier build make a big difference to lower impact machines like this – where wobbles can be a hazard.

Where is really stands out is in the flexibility of the computer console. 12 pre-set, 8 other options, 4 separate users and the usual displays are all standard. If you supply your own heart-rate monitor, this will work with the computer console too.

A great spec for a mid-range price make this one for the short-list. Check out the close ups and that all-important user feedback on this dedicated amazon.co.uk product page now!
