Marcy SM4033 Smith Machine Review
Marcy have added everything but the kitchen sink for their SM4033 Smith Machine.
This is as close to a ‘one and done’ home multigym setup that I’ve seen. It includes a top-quality Marcy adjustable bench, a cross over pully system and the brackets which make Smith Machines safer to use without a spotter. You get to choose what Olympic weights to buy to go with your SM4036 – those cables have more resistance than you’ll ever need so the only constraint is your strength.

Detailed Review of the SM4033 Adjustable Cross Over Smith Machine from Marcy
You get a big, solid cage, made of steel with the SM4033.
It is 213.36cm by 177.8cm and 218.44cm tall to the top of the dip station. Even before you add any weights, this gym is a solid 136.08kgs. The cage and bench are separate, and you’ll need to get it laid out and assemble it.
The red front supports are distinctive, though overall this is classic Marcy, with a black and grey design and a wide enough footprint to keep everything from wobbling.
Smith Rack: Olympic Bar
The core of any Smith machine is the bar attached to the track.
With the SM 4033 you can set it up for presses, squats and more. There are safety locks, which mean you can stop your exercise safely, even when you need to stop suddenly. As I noted above, the machine does not come with weights. Instead, you can use your existing Olympic weight set, or purchase one alongside your multi-gym unit.

The fully adjustable Marcy weigh bench works with the Smith Machine in different ways.
Setting it up at the front, you can bench press, with holders against the sloped red bar available for extra safety. Place the bench inside the cage for the butterfly press, or set it up for preacher curls. With some simple free weights, that combination of Smith cage, flexible bench and cross over cable system is hard to beat.
There are plate storage posts on both sides, which keeps your spare room / garage tidy too.

As with all Smith Machines, they don’t arrive fully assembled.
No major complaints about the assembly, though keep in mind that people said this takes several hours. One buyer suggested getting a socket set ready for when it arrives. Measure your ceiling height too – you don’t want to complete the assembly and then find out it does not fit.
