ProForm treadmills have a secret – and it involves the technology.
This brand is part of a group that includes NordicTrack. They share a lot of the innovations from that more expensive brand, without the giant price tags. I’m thinking SMR (silent magnetic resistance), EasyLift Assist (for folding) and world-class cushioning innovations on the running track.
Then there is the amazing iFit.
And the HD touchscreens that let you use it, or choose TV / video or your own favourite app.
Let’s be clear. ProForm are not the no-brand ‘toys’ you get for peanuts. Only a fool thinks they’ll get anything but injured on those!
What ProForm does well is to produce beautifully made home treadmills, at a higher but not crazy price point. They will last for years and have a warranty to prove it.
This page covers the best current treadmills from ProForm in depth, comparing them and highlighting which are the best for different types of users.
Note: I have repeated this table at the end of the page, you’ll understand the treadmill options much better once you have read (or scanned) this article.
You’ll find frequent sales at the official ProForm store – make sure you keep an eye out for significant discounts!

Each treadmill has a full review, which I will link to. The info below is to show the highlights (and drawbacks) of each machine.
The 22” HD screen gives the top-of-range Pro 9000 treadmill a real wow-factor. I also love the design. Those sharp angles, and way it sits off the floor slightly both work beautifully.
This is a commercial spec-model, which has been adapted for home runners. Quick-Speed button control gives you up to 19km / hour, with incline at 12% and decline at -3%. You get Rebound Pro cushioning, a smooth and quiet 3.6CHP motor and EasyLift assist folding. Add the fan, speakers, and Bluetooth to the tech.
I rate the Pro 9000 every bit as good as commercial treadmills costing a lot more.
You’ll get a free iFit trial (trainers can control your treadmill remotely!) or can use it with your favourite apps or just watch YouTube.
I’m a big fan, this is the best ProForm treadmill spec-wise:
This model has a 10” HD screen, and slightly smaller 3.25 CHP motor. In other ways, it is super-close to the Pro 9000.
If the extra money for a huge HD screen does not feel like great value for you – then the 2000 is the one to pick. 10-inches is perfectly enough to enjoy iFit, your own choice of app, or to watch TV on via a steaming service.
Speed, and incline / decline-wise, you get up to 19km / hour, and 12% / -3%. You get Rebound Pro Cushioning, and EasyLift Assist. This model also has Bluetooth, CoolAire Fan, and speakers. You get a free 3- day iFit trial too, enough to decide whether you want to continue trainer-led workouts or go it alone.
The balance between HD screen and costs are important.
As much as the big screens give me that ‘wow,’ I personally don’t find too much value beyond 10” or so…

If you are casual runner, left wondering whether the commercial-level specs of the models listed above are all too much for you – then the ProForm Trainer 2000 Treadmill could be perfect for you.
This is a stylish and robust home model, with fewer bells and whistles, and a far more manageable price tag. It comes with a 7” (phone sized) swipeable HD monitor. You can always connect your own tablet / iPad for entertainment or apps instead.
While the spec does not match the 9000 or 2000 models, it is impressive:
18km / hour top speed, up to 10% incline, 2.75 CHP motor, ProShox cushioning. The running belt is 46cm x 127cm (5cm narrower than the more expensive models, though plenty wide enough). You get the EasyLift assist, which makes folding the Trainer 9.0 smooth and easy. Speakers are included though no fan for this treadmill.
As with all the ProForm (and NordicTrack) treadmills, it does come with a 30-day iFit Trial.

The City L6 is an innovative fold-flat treadmill from ProForm.
While the three models above fold, this is length-ways only, they still stand upright, only with a smaller footprint. The L6 is designed for flats, or anyone without a dedicated space. I have included the flat profile below. This can then be put under a bed or sofa or propped up in a cupboard.
The technical spec is solid, though obviously not as crazy good as the commercial models.
You also need your own tablet or phone. There is a holder on top for this.
L6 Treadmills come with a 2 CHP Mach Z motor, a 14km / hour top speed (plenty!), ProShox Cushioning and Bluetooth. You get a free iFit trial (your own iPad / tablet needed to show it), and a reasonable 45cm running surface.
I’m a fan of this model, it is perfect for anyone without a dedicated spot – and high quality as you’d expect from ProForm.
Here are the important links:
ProForm’s Carbon range includes the mid-priced T7 treadmill, plus bikes and rowers. These models are full sized – with an impressive 51cm by 140cm running belt (complete with ISO Flex Cushioning).
Carbon T7 treadmills have a 16km / hour top speed. I’m 5’10”, fit, and rarely get above 14 km / hour. Unless you are tall or super-fit, this is more than enough. You get 10% incline, and a 2.75 CHP motor.
The 7” HD screen saves money (compared to the big screens of the Pro 2000 and 9000 models above). This connects with iFit – allowing your trainer to control your speed an incline. You do get a fan with the T7, plus built-in spreakers and EasyLift Assist to fold it up.
Here are those all-important links:
My tip for grabbing a bargain home treadmill is to look for the ‘just replaced’ models from major brands like ProForm.
The Power Series 995i is exactly that.
These were the premier models in the ProForm Treadmills range until last year. They have now been replaced with the Pro 2000 and Pro 9000. For me, they are still excellent (I used this same trick to get myself a beautiful NordicTrack home treadmill).
You need to head to the official Amazon.co.uk store of ProForm for these. Pricing is dynamic, changing regularly – though you’ll find them a bargain compared to the previous list price.
You get:
3 CHP motors, 22km / hour top speed (even quicker than the 19km / hour above), 12% digital incline and a large ProShox cushioned 51cm wide running belt.
What you don’t get is the HD screen. Easy to solve: Use your phone or tablet (there is an integrated holder). You get the same free trial of iFit as the more expensive models above.
Here are the important 995i links:
I put ProForm in the same quality / mid-price bracket as NordicTrack and Branx Fitness.
If money is not a major factor, you can go up a level to the £3 to £5k range which includes Sole Fitness and others. If you want to keep things cheap, then the upper end of the range from British maker JLL should also be considered.
Here are two models worth a look in the same price bracket:
Yes, ProForm treadmills work brilliantly for smaller people. You’ll enjoy safety features, easy to reach one-touch controls and workouts which can be adjusted to your shorter stride length. The EasyLift assist means folding your treadmill is simple too.
Yes, the longer running belts of the Pro 2000, Pro 9000 and Trainer 9.0 are perfect for taller people with long stride length. In addition, you’ll find the top speeds are able to match your longer stride, with up to 22km / hour on the Power Series 995i.
Yes, ProForm treadmills are safe. You get a safety key which you attach to your top, this cuts the motor should you fall off. Other important safety features include one-touch controls (no risk in not being able to stop / slow down quickly). The pro-level cushioning of the running belt also helps you stay safe. Depending on the model, this adjusts to your running style, lowering the impact on your joints.
Yes, you get a great warranty with your ProForm treadmill. This covers you for 2 years parts and labour, 5 years for the motor and a lifetime guarantee for the frame. It is important that you register your warranty within 30 days of purchase. Information on how to do this comes with your treadmill, if you can’t find it then head to ProFormFitness UK and click ‘register warranty’ in the homepage footer.
Yes, monthly payment plans are available via ProForm using Klarna. Fitness Review stays away from financial advice, so I won’t stray into pros and cons of this. Please make sure you understand the terms and conditions – however you pay.
I feel like ProForm treadmills are a well-kept secret.
The amazing tech is shared with more expensive brands. These treadmills are built to last for years. They really can’t be compared with those rattly no-name brands, with stunning design, top-tier specs, and a comprehensive warranty.
Here is the table from above one more time.
