NordicTrack S20i Treadmill Review

S20i Treadmill Review NordicTrack

Summary: Before I get into the details of this NordicTrack S20i Treadmill review – a small insider tip. When you check out the range of NordicTrack Treadmills, one thing jumps out. The models without HD screens are way cheaper. Guess what? They include almost all the same technology, spec and build quality as the top of the range ‘commercial’ models – yet you pay a fraction of the price.

My tip… get a tablet or iPad. This connects via Bluetooth and gives you the exact same functionality as a HD screen. At the same time, you save a ton of money.

Back to the S20i treadmills – as you will see below, this is a great value way to get excellent NordicTrack gear. Detailed Review of the NordicTrack S20i Treadmill

This machine has classic NordicTrack design. It is silver and black, with a wide console and safety arms which curve out before doubling back. The running belt appears lifted compared to other models – which leaves room for the built-in digital incline.

It is not the biggest NordicTrack treadmill, though still has a respectable 51cm by 140cm running surface. The max user weight (keeping in mind that all the fitness equipment makers are conservative with this) is 135kgs. You get a solid 10-year warranty for the frame, plus 2-years parts and labour. Make sure you register to kick off your guarantee – you have 28 days from purchase to do that.

S20i treadmills fold. NordicTrack use the hydraulic system they call ‘EasyLift’ assist for this.

Respectable Top Speed + Digital Incline

This model has an 18km / hour top speed. This is a little lower than the 22km / hour of the commercial models. Unless you are extra tall or super-fit, 18km / hour will be more than enough. When you add in incline up to 10%, this machine is more than capable of delivering a tough workout.

Incline is digital, which allows you to change it on the go via the console – or have your trainer do it via Bluetooth with the iFit app. The motor uses the ‘SMART-response’ tech that NordicTrack developed. This is smooth, quiet and the motor self-cools, which stops any issues with overheating.

S20i Treadmill Review: Technology Overview

This model has a regular electronic console – with no built in HD screen. You can access all the functions with a single touch. If you are not a fan of the new apps, then this is all you need to set training programmes.

If you connect your tablet or iPad via Bluetooth, you can take advantage of your free month of iFit that comes free with this treadmill. This includes social functions, group training (with live trainers), scenic runs, Google map integration and a big library of training programmes.

Other tech includes:

  • EKG hand grips to measure your pulse rate on the move.
  • FlexSelect Cushioning to balance your impacts.
  • Up to 10% digital incline
  • OneTouch controls, no need to stop to change the setup.

Feedback: What Owners of the S20i Treadmill from NordicTrack Said?

Not the glowing reviews of the commercial models, though overall positive feedback for the S20i treadmill. Specifics include the ease of use. People found they were able to get the hang of the controls right away – being up and running in no time (pardon the pun!).

Lack of HD screen compared to other models is a drawback – though for the price difference, I’m sure that a single star here and there makes up for it.

iFit users were happy – recommending this model (often in gushing terms) with a tablet. You can see selected quotes from them on the NordicTrack.co.uk website.

Wrapping Up: Is the NordicTrack S20i Treadmill Right for You?

You get a ton of the best technology for a bargain price with the S20i. Taking out the HD screen makes all the difference. If you don’t already have a tablet to use with the free iFit subscription, then any recent £100 entry level one will get the job done.

If you would love a NordicTrack treadmill, and always thought the prices were too high, then you should check the S20i out. You get Bluetooth, EKG hand grips, digital incline, patented cushioning tech and a smart-response motor, all for a great price.
