Reebok i-Run 3 Treadmill Review

Detailed Review of the Reebok i-Run 3 Home Treadmill

Reebok have filled an important gap in the market with their ultra-compact i-Run home treadmill.

Finding an ultra-compact treadmill which has the brand and quality build to last is a major challenge these days. Those long lists of ‘no brand’ imports that disappear as soon as real reviews come in are no solution.

Reebok have been making a wide range of quality fitness equipment for decades. Their infamous Step and Deck are not complimented by treadmills and exercise bikes.

With the i-Run, they have the perfect treadmill for people that simply don’t have room for a bigger machine. It folds almost flat, and then stands up against a wall. This review covers all the key details.

Check out the close-up pictures (including that impressive folding mechanism) and the latest price now, over on this i-Run 3 page at the official Reebok Amazon store.

I have seen a lot of ‘folding’ treadmills, though none that sit flush against the wall in the upright position better than the Reebok i-Run 3…. more

Detailed Review of the Reebok i-Run 3 Ultra Compact Home Treadmill

Let’s start with the size and folding mechanism of the i-Run 3.

While it is listed as a compact folding model, it is bigger than a lot of the ‘toy’ no-brand models you’ll find online.

This model is 160cm long, 80.4cm wide and 126cm tall to the top of the console. It weighs in at 61.5 kilograms and has a maximum recommended user weight of 100 kilograms.

I like the white styling, which is a refreshing change up from the usual black and grey / silver models.

To fold it, there is a bright red dial at the side on the front. You release this, then fold the console and upper mechanism down onto the running surface. Once it is flat, you lift the treadmill from the back, and swivel supports at the front. As you can see below, it folds into an impressively slim profile, and there are wheels to move it out of the way.

13 Horsepower Motor

That bulge at the front of the Reebok iRun 3 treadmill houses a 13 horse power motor.

While not up to the standards of commercial treadmills like the NordicTrack 2950, this is plenty enough to get you a 13km / hour top speed. That’s a fast run for all but the biggest / fittest users.

The belt has built-in cushioning. Reebok call this ‘elastomer’ cushioning, with eight points on the belt made to absorb the impact of your stride and protect your joints. This also helps keep your workout quiet (a quality rubber mat under your machine will also help!).

Reebok i-Run 3 Treadmill Review: Console and Programmes

The console is wider than you’ll find on most home treadmills.

It uses an LED display, showing all the key stats. At this price range you won’t get a HD monitor – though you do get plenty of programmes. There are 12 pre-set workouts, plus three target programmes which are designed to get you through the beginner stages.

You can choose to operate manually, using the big + and – buttons on the bottom left of the control panel.

Pulse sensors are built in. You will see them on the frame, underneath and either side of the console. Holding them for a few seconds will show your current heart rate on the display.

This model has built-in speakers and an MP3 input. You get a standard safety key too.

Feedback: What Do Owners of the Reebok i-Run 3 Compact Home Treadmill Have to Say?

Positive feedback for this model, with a little confusion about how to use the folding mechanism the only grumbles.

That said, once people got the hang of this – and Reebok customer support helped – they were happy with the setup. The fact that no assembly is required was a big positive in the reviews. If you have ever struggled with assembling fitness equipment, I’m sure you will understand! Reebok customer service is excellent – and as always there were no signs of complaints about this.

Feedback does change over time, and I always recommend checking the latest comments from real buyers (not just the marketing).

Wrapping Up: How Does the i-Run 3 Treadmill from Reebok Compare?

This Reebok treadmill has one key feature – it folds flat, and stands upright for placement against a wall.

If you don’t have room for a bigger model, and want a quality treadmill from a trusted brand that will last, then I have zero hesitation in recommending the i-Run 3.

13km / hour is fast enough for all but the fastest runners, and the console (while simple) covers all the key stats. While a HD display would be welcome, the speakers give you the option for music or a podcast when you run.
